Tab Steward

Terms of service

Last updated 2 September 2026.

Who you are dealing with

Tab Steward is run by L. Zuijdwijk, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. You can reach a person at hello@tabsteward.com, and a reply comes from the same person who wrote the software.

Payments are taken by Paddle.com Market Ltd, who are the merchant of record for every sale. That means Paddle is the seller on your receipt, and they handle sales tax and VAT wherever you live. Their terms cover the payment itself; these terms cover the service you are paying for.

What Tab Steward does

It reads the titles and addresses of the tabs open in your browser, asks a language model what belongs together, and proposes groups to make and tabs to close. Nothing is changed until you approve it. It is a tool that suggests, not one that acts on its own.

Because a language model is involved, the suggestions will sometimes be wrong. That is why approval exists, and why you should read a proposal before accepting it.

Your account

One account is for one person. You need a working email address, because that is how we reach you about your subscription and how you get back in. An account may be signed in on up to three devices at once; connecting a fourth signs out whichever has been idle longest.

Keep your password to yourself. Anything done by someone signed in as you is treated as done by you.

The free trial

Seven days, and no card. It starts when you create an account and ends by itself. There is nothing to cancel, and nothing is charged when it ends. If you do nothing, the extension simply stops tidying.

Prices and payment

$19.99 a year, or $2.99 a month. In the United Kingdom and the eurozone the same figures are charged in pounds and euros rather than converted, so the price you are shown is the price you pay. Tax is included and shown by Paddle at checkout.

Subscriptions renew automatically until you stop them. We email you about seven days before a yearly renewal so it is never a surprise. If we ever change the price, we will tell you by email before it applies to you, and you can cancel instead.

Cancelling

Cancel whenever you like, from your account page or by replying to any email from us. Cancelling stops the next payment. It does not end the period you have already paid for, so you keep using it until that runs out.

Refunds

If you want your money back within 14 days of a payment, you can have it, without having to give a reason. Email hello@tabsteward.com or reply to your Paddle receipt.

Refunding ends the subscription straight away, because the money and the access go together. After 14 days we will still look at anything that has gone genuinely wrong, and we would rather refund someone than argue with them.

This sits alongside your legal rights and does not replace them. As a consumer in the UK you have a statutory right to cancel a distance contract within 14 days, and nothing here takes that away.

Fair use

A subscription is for one person organising their own browser. There are limits on how often the service can be called, high enough that ordinary use will never meet them and low enough that automated use will. Please do not resell access, share an account across a team, or point scripts at it.

We may suspend an account that is being used to attack the service or to run up cost deliberately. If we do that to you and you think we are wrong, email us and a person will read it.

Your data

What we can and cannot see is set out on the privacy page, and the short version is that requests are encrypted in your browser to the process that talks to the model, so tab titles and addresses do not appear in our logs. We keep your email address and, for each run, how many tokens it used and how long it took. Never the contents.

Availability

We try to keep it working and we do not promise it always will. It depends on a model provider we do not own, and on Chrome, which changes. There is no uptime guarantee. If the service is unavailable for a long stretch, tell us and we will sort out your subscription.

Features may change. If we remove something you are relying on, we will say so by email first, and you can cancel and get back the unused part of what you paid.

If something goes wrong

Tab Steward proposes changes to your tabs and you approve them. Please read what you are approving, especially before closing tabs you have not saved.

We are responsible for what the law says we are responsible for, and nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under English law. Beyond that, our liability is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the problem, and we are not liable for lost profits or lost data.

Ending it

You can close your account at any time by emailing us, and we will delete it. We can end an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, and if we do that without good reason we will refund the unused part of what you paid.

Changes to these terms

If we change anything that matters, we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version. The date at the top says when this was last changed.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim there.
